The Golden Phoenix (Japanese: スザク, Suzaku) is a Fire attribute creature and an Independent type card introduced in Lost Kingdoms. It is one of the four Sacred Beasts, the lord of all Fire creatures, and the ruler of Yalwog.

The Golden Phoenix can be found in the secret level Yalwog, but not as an enemy. Instead of fighting it to obtain its card, players must defeat the Demon Fox, and then the Golden Phoenix will readily join them.

The Golden Phoenix (Japanese: スザク, Suzaku) returns in Lost Kingdoms II. It retains the Fire attribute, but it was changed into a Helper type.

The Golden Phoenix, along with the other three Sacred Beasts, are ruled by the Emperor. It can be fought in Level 20 of the Proving Grounds, where the other Sacred Beasts and their leader are found.

Obtainability[]

  • By upgrading a Phoenix card with 25000 EXP
  • By capturing a Golden Phoenix in Level 20 of the Proving Grounds
  • By choosing the card in the level bonus of Level 20 of the Proving Grounds. 1 Golden Phoenix card is available. This Level Bonus can be accessed whenever the level is cleared with at least 1 rating star.
  • By importing Golden Phoenix cards from a Lost Kingdoms save file after clearing Sacred Battle Arena 2. The option to do this can only be taken once.
  • By copying a Golden Phoenix card with 45000 EXP, but only in RUNE II, the Japanese version of Lost Kingdoms II. The Golden Phoenix card cannot be copied in the US and PAL versions.

Strategies[]

As a Card[]

The Golden Phoenix can also be used in both the Living Large and The Big Save combos:

  • The Living Large combo uses a Golden Phoenix card and a Phoenix card, and requires 22 Magic Stones. This combo acts as a Helper type card. It protects the player and all other active friendly creatures from damage and restores their Hit Points.
  • The Big Save combo uses one of each of the Sacred Beast cards, and requires 24 Magic Stones. This combo acts as a Summons type card. It restores both the player's Hit Points and in-use cards' lifespan and/or Weapon-uses. It also restores some cards by sending them across the screen towards the player, where the cards being returned will hit surrounding enemies.

As a Monster[]

The Golden Phoenix as an enemy is dangerous for how high up it flies. It is easy to lose track of when dealing with other enemies.  When fighting the Golden Phoenix in the Proving Grounds, it will be accompanied by other powerful enemies, which makes things even more dangerous.

It might be best to use a Berserk Master card when dealing with the Golden Phoenix and the other Sacred Beasts, as the Berserk Master will cause all enemies to attack each other. The use of other Independent type or Helper type cards with the Berserk Master active is not recommended for several reasons. They could attack each other, harm the player, be targeted by the Berserk Master, and could be harmed if in the attack radius of the player.

While the Berserk Master is active, the player can collect Magic Stones when using a Devata card which will prevent the player from being attacked by both the Berserk Master and the Sacred Beasts. The remaining weakened enemies can be dealt with using with Weapon, Summons, or Transform type cards of the Berserk Master is still alive.

While the Berserk Master is extremely useful in the western releases of Lost Kingdoms II, his hit points were lowered in the Japanese release known as RUNE II, so this strategy is not as effective in the latter version.
